Position Central Dispatch as the best in the industry service through on going enhancement to build customer satisfaction, innovative solutions and valuable product features.

Central Dispatch customers will be able to use the system in a way that supports individual workflow and process in order to do business and complete job responsibilities and tasks with speed and accuracy.

Power tools will simplify the transportation process for our shippers and give them the ability to set realistic expectations for transportation including cost and delivery time frame.

Design Challenge

Professional drivers spend a lot of time and effort on tasks outside of driving. Finding and building loads, logistics of pick-up and delivery.  All from the truck, and often times in transit.

  • Envision navigation and routing system integration that will give our customers insight to logistic data so that intelligent business decisions can be made without sacrificing safety.Place safety and accessibility of the service above everything.
  • Provide a responsive solution to a customer base that isn’t afforded the time of on-boarding or  learning curve of a new or changing solution
  • Make adjustments that fully consider the working environment professional drivers
  • Re-architect misaligned workflows and cluttered data presentation
  • Build a strategy and schedule for re-launch with minimal disruption to customer expectations and performance.

Through the process of discovery and product iteration, multiple artifacts were created and designed to provide insight to overall vision, product roadmaps and support for user stories

Contribution

UX focus was on improving system functionality and features.  I designed a simplified load listing details by removing irrelevant data based on the users status and location which increased workflow performance.

I created ‘Day In The Life of’ training for team members using driver observations and research to bring the Central Dispatch team closer to the world of a professional truck driver.

I established lines of communication with customers through the support team via weekly call shadowing and weekly ‘Voice of The Customer’ briefs.

Field observations (over 200 in-cab miles) and driver interviews allowed me to build and share true ‘Voice of The Customer’ insights to product and engineering team members and business stakeholders.

Process

Understanding the auto hauling space and discovering innovative opportunities was accomplished through research and interviews both in person and remote testing. Spending time in the cab with drivers revealed opportunities that would have never been exposed otherwise.
